Watch: the 148-tip framework
Welcome to Profit Boost.
I’m Eoin Loftus, and people call me The Profit Guy. I’m a hotel advisor and former hotel group CEO with more than 30 years of hands-on experience in hotel management, operations and profitability.
From porter to CEO
I started in 1993 as a porter, with the same hotel group where I spent the next 29 years. I moved into leadership quickly and managed my first hotel at 25.
I went on to serve as CEO of that group for 12 years. In that time I was a lead in the design, construction, opening and operation of six accommodation hotels, finishing with the $50 million Majestic M Suites development, my final and most significant project as CEO.
Building and running real hotels, through the good years and the hard ones, is where I learned what actually moves a hotel’s profit.
The numbers came first. I once discovered $1 million cost savings per annum for my businesses in just two days.
Not a top-line growth plan. A clear, measurable change straight to the bottom line.
Since 2022 I’ve worked as a hotel advisor and profitability specialist, helping owners and managers who are time-poor, stretched by day-to-day operations, and often missing practical profit-driving expertise.
The track record
My recommendations have delivered $17.3 million in profit recommendations per annum for small, medium and large accommodation businesses.
I’ve also served the wider visitor economy: nine years (the maximum term) with the Tourism Industry Council South Australia, six of them as Chairman and through the COVID period, plus past service on the International College of Hotel Management Academic Board.
I currently sit on the South Australian Tourism Commission and Zoos South Australia boards.
I studied business at the University of South Australia and Adelaide University, and I’m a graduate of the Institute of Company Directors.
A framework built from the inside
As CEO, I was a lead in building and operating six accommodation hotels, and that is where this framework comes from. 148 practical tips, each one tested on real hotel numbers and costed in real dollars. No benchmarks invented for a spreadsheet. No advice written from the outside looking in.

148 practical tips
The framework is field-tested. 148 practical profit-boosting tips, developed and tested over 30+ years of running and advising hotels. Each one is hotel-specific and quantified to real dollars. They cover the levers that shift a hotel’s margin: pricing, distribution, marketing, incremental revenue, expenses, housekeeping, finance and financial reporting, to name a few areas covered. No generic business advice. No invented benchmarks. Every recommendation in the Profit Boost Review traces back to this framework.
THE 5P HOTEL PROFITABILITY MODEL
A simplified way to analyse hotel profitability
Underneath every tip sits a simplified way to drive hotel profitability. I call it the 5P Hotel Profitability Model.
The framework
148 tips. Every dollar costed.
Each of the 148 tips covers a specific lever: pricing and rate strategy, distribution costs, incremental revenue streams, housekeeping efficiency, food and beverage margin, expense controls, and financial reporting. Every tip comes with a method for calculating its dollar impact. Nothing generic. Nothing invented.
When I run the Profit Boost Review for your accommodation business, I apply whichever tips are relevant to your numbers and show you the annual value of each recommendation before you change a thing. See how the review works.
